EMMERLING, CORIPPO ADVANCE TO NOR CAL PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS
ROCKLIN, Calif.- It didn't take Coach Kieran Roblee and her beach volleyball team long to make an impression on the CCCAA beach volleyball scene. In their inaugural season, the Fresno City Rams played their way into contention for a Coast Conference championship to the last day of the season, advancing to the CCCAA Nor Cal Team Playoffs against West Valley and Gavilan.
Although the Rams came up short in their bid for a conference title, a pair of Rams punched their tickets to the Nor Cal Pairs Championships, which begin today at Sierra College in Rocklin. Freshmen Katie Emmerling and Mia Corippo advanced to the Nor Cal Pairs Championships, making quick work of Gavilan's top pair in a 21-18, 21-14 victory in the Coast Conference championships last month. The Nor Cal Pairs Championships begin this morning at 9 AM at Sierra College.
Emmerling and Corippo earned their bids to the CCCAA Nor Cal Pairs Championships on the strength of an All-Conference season, wrapping up conference play with a second-place finish in the Coast Conference Pairs Championships. Corippo, who has signed a scholarship to Concordia-Irvine, and Emmerling who inked her scholarship to The Master's University, look to advance to the CCCAA State Championships, which will be held next week in Chula Vista.
