Offense erupts for the Rams!
The Rams scored 20 runs in 10 innings on Tuesday and racked up a total of 22 hits. The pitching staff and defense only allowed 1 run in the 2 games.
Fresno City softball run ruled both Sacramento City College and Lassen Community College in their double header in Sacramento on Tuesday, February 18.
SCC had a record of 14-1 prior to playing the Rams who run ruled them 9-1 in just five innings. The Rams scored four runs in the first inning with a leadoff single by sophomore Teya Vincent. Sophomore Emily Puente advanced Vincent with a sacrifice bunt, followed by an RBI single by freshman Mary Mets. Freshman Pria Bun kept the hits going with a single, and a two RBI base hit by sophomore Elaine Caballero. SCC responded in the bottom of the first inning scoring their only run of the game on an RBI sacrifice fly.
FCC added two runs in the second inning on lead off double by Vincent, a walk by Puente, and a two RBI double by sophomore Desarae Moreno. Sophomore pitcher Katie Delgadillo shut the panthers down in bottom half of the second with a one-two-three inning.
Sophomore Kassandra Expose was hit by pitch to lead off the third followed by four consecutive singles by Cabarello, Vincent, Puente, and Mets. Both teams were scoreless in the fourth and fifth inning.
In total, the Rams scored nine runs on 10 hits and one error. Delgadillo earned the win for the Rams pitching all five innings, allowing one run on five hits, and walking one.
FCC kept the momentum going in the second game against Lassen College in a consecutive run rule win outscoring the Cougars 11-0. The Rams didn't allow a single run in a combined 1-hitter pitched by Puente and sophomore Briana Stafford.
The Rams jumped ahead in the first inning scoring six runs on five hits by Puente, Moreno, Maldonado, Bun, and Expose. After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first, Puente rolled two ground outs and a strikeout looking.
In the second inning, the Rams added three more runs to the board on four hits including a double by Puente, and three singles by Mets, Maldonado, and Bun. In the bottom half, Puente shut it down with three consecutive outs. The Rams scored two more runs in the top of the third with an RBI by sophomore Fran Sanchez and an RBI single by freshman Kyndyll Garrison.
Stafford entered the game and rolled three consecutive ground outs to end the fourth inning. The Rams were scoreless in the fifth but had two doubles by Vincent and Sanchez, and a single by Stafford. Stafford shut the Cougars down only facing three batters to end the game.
Between the two games, the Rams scored 20 runs in 10 innings and racked up a total of 22 hits, and a no-hitter between Puente and Stafford. FCC improved their record to 4-5 on the season.
