Alex Fletcher is coming home. The Merced native and Fresno City College alumnus has been selected to be the new head coach for the FCC Rams Women's Basketball team beginning this fall. His appointment was approved by the Board of Trustees at its July meeting.
"I'm very excited Alex will be joining our staff as our new head women's basketball coach. Alex brings a level of understanding and passion for the game that we believe will continue the success we have enjoyed in the past. As a previous student-athlete at Fresno City College, Alex understands not only the Central Valley but also the campus itself," said Pamm Zierfuss-Hubbard, Director of Athletics
Fletcher is also a former men's basketball player for Ed Madec from 2009-2011. During that time, the Rams won two league titles and a trip to the state Final Four. In 2010-2011, Fletcher was a first Team All-League selection in the Central Valley Conference and a Kiwanis Torch of Excellence Torch Lighter Award recipient. He then transferred to the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada where he was a three-year team captain.
His coaching experience includes one year as assistant coach at FCC, three seasons as an assistant coach at U of L and acting head coach for U of L during the 2016-2017 season.
Fletcher has an associate in arts degree from FCC, a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from the University of Lethbridge, and a master's degree in kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University.
