Bio

George Moreno, named the California Community College Assistant Coach of the Year in 2016, enters his eighth season with the Fresno City College wrestling program. Moreno’s involvement in the sport began at Firebaugh High School, where he was the Central Section Masters Champion in 1997 and fifth in the California State High School meet. Moreno was a California USA Wrestling National Team member in Freestyle and Greco and a three-time open division State Freestyle champion. At Fresno City, he was captain of the college’s 1998 undefeated state championship wrestling team, a California Community College state finalist and Junior College All-American. Moreno wrestled at Fresno State from 1998-2000 and also earned a bachelor’s degree in history at the university. He holds a single-subject teaching credential from National University. Moreno is widowed and has one daughter, AnnElyse, 11.
