Just days after advancing on penalty kicks, the Fresno City College men's soccer team found itself on the other side of the result Saturday afternoon.
No. 5 Cañada edged out the ninth-seeded Rams in a penalty shootout after a scoreless draw in regulation during the CCCAA regionals. The defeat marks the final game for longtime coach Eric Solberg, who is retiring after an accomplished career.
Despite the loss, it was a strong season for Fresno City, highlighted by a dramatic win over top-seeded Santa Rosa in the previous round. The Rams finished second in the Central Valley Conference with a 5-1-4 record, closing out the year at 11-4-10 overall.
