6 Rams Collect All CVC Honors
Jun 7, 2021

The Fresno City College softball team capped off the 2021 Conference Championship season with six Rams selected to the All Conference Teams. The six Rams selected were tied with COS for the most players represented on the All Conference teams. Jazmine Castaneda was named CVC Pitcher of the Year.& Four Rams were named to the first team: Mary Mets, Amber Aguilar, Alayna Munoz, and Isabel Gomez. Catcher Fran Sanchez was named to the second team.

Head Coach Haley Janzer was also named CVC Coach of the Year for leading the Rams to their first conference championship since 2016. "This group of young women were a pleasure to coach this season," says Janzer. "They brought toughness, intensity, and eagerness to practice every day and it paid off with a conference championship. I'm so proud of what they were able to accomplish in the short time we had together. These ladies are great ball players, but even better people!"

Pitcher of the Year - Jazmine Castaneda

Fr. Bullard High School

9-1 Record, 78:8 K:BB ratio, .395 AVG, 12 RBI

Coach Janzer: "Jazmine was downright dominant this year in the circle and in the lineup! She imposed her will on opponents this year and made calling pitches easy.& Jazzy established herself as one of the top pitchers in the state!"

1st Team - Mary Mets

So. Clovis West High School

.551 AVG, 8 2B, 3 3B, 4 HR, 19 RBI

Coach Keener: "For two years Mary has been a catalyst at the top of our lineup.& Her teammates relied on her consistency and leadership day in and day out in practice and in games, and she did not disappoint. I'm very proud to have had the opportunity to coach Mary the last two years."

1st Team - Amber Aguilar

So Los Banos High School

.447 AVG, 2 2B, 2 3B, 10 RBI, 5SB

Coach Janzer: "I have only seen a few players with the athletic ability that Amber has! She had a great offensive year, but might have been even more impressive in the outfield. She saved us several runs by cutting balls off and covering ground out there. Amber had a fantastic season!"

1st Team - Alayna Munoz

Fr. Washington Union High School

.438 AVG, 2 2B, 4 HR, 18 RBI

Coach Janzer: "Alayna has a crazy high ceiling. She unlocked just some of her potential this season with 5 homers and leading the team in RBI. Her ability to hit with power to all fields will set her up to have an unbelievable sophomore season next year!"

1st Team - Isabel Gomez

Fr. Edison High School

.619 AVG, 7 RBI, 8 BB, 5 SB

Coach Keener: "I'm so proud of Bella this season for many reasons. She jumped in the lineup and ran with the opportunity. She has so many strengths. Offensively she gets deep into counts and isn't afraid to hit with two strikes; but her biggest strength is her dugout presence which was infectious this year!"

2nd Team - Fran Sanchez

So. Roosevelt High School

.417 AVG, .990 Fld%

Coach Janzer: "Fran was the heart and soul of this program this year. Her teammates looked to her for guidance and strength and she rose to the occasion every time. She is a shining example of what it means to be a Fresno City College Ram softball player. This program is better for having Fran a part of it for the last few years."
