CVC power Fresno City College highlighted in CCCWCA Top 25 State Rankings #7
San Joaquin Delta College is refusing to lose, having settled in its #1 spot in the CCCWVCA State Top 25 Rankings #7. While the Mustangs appear to be the class of the North Region thus far, #6 Fresno City College has once again proven its worth as a perennial top 10 team.
The Rams were state champions in first 2016 and then again in 2021. Maybe more remarkable is FCC's incredible Central Valley Conference winning streak. The streak is now at 168 in a row after Fresno took sole possession of first place in the conference last week in a 4-set win over West Hills Coalinga.
The last time Fresno lost a conference match George W. Bush was President of the United States and the average price of a gallon of gasoline was $2.80--current student-athletes everywhere can only dream to see that price ever again. That was back in 2007 when Taft downed the Rams in four sets. Sixteen years later, Fresno seems to be completely immune to losing any Central Valley matchup.
Last year, FCC saw an even more impressive streak of 128 consecutive sets won in conference play snapped by College of the Sequoais. At least this year, opponents can feel some morale boost with Sequoias and WHC each winning one set in 2023 CVC defeats v. Fresno.
