Water Polo Drops Two
FCC Women’s Water Polo Suffers Close Losses at Crossover Tournament
Despite several outstanding offensive performances, the Fresno City College women’s water polo team dropped two close games Saturday (10/14) at the Crossover Tournament in Stockton.
The Rams lost 9-7 to Merced College in a game played at San Joaquin Delta College. FCC’s strong offense included hat tricks by both sophomore Aneesha Nagra and freshman Allison Baker. Freshman Nicole Bruno had the other FCC goal.
Nagra was a standout the entire game -- scoring the three goals, earning ejections and breaking away on the counter-attack. The two teams traded goals throughout the game but FCC ran into late foul trouble and couldn’t stop Merced’s scoring attack.
Freshman goalie Aubry Choate had two saves and freshman Candice Islas had one save.
The Rams also fell 8-5 to Foothill College at the tournament. Baker scored two goals from two meters; also scoring from two meters were Nagra (1) and freshman Macayla Robbins (1). Bruno had the other Rams’ goal.
FCC again had foul trouble late in the game and couldn’t prevent Foothill from scoring. Choate recorded four saves in the contest.
