FRESNO CITY COLLEGE HIRES FORMER OLYMPIAN AS HEAD MEN?S AND WOMEN?S CROSS-COUNTRY COACH

After being a world-class athlete and earning two bachelor?s degrees, one in Information Technology from the University of Paris and another in Kinesiology (with an option in Exercise Science) from Fresno State in 2012 Calixte Aholu will take the helm as the Head Men?s and Women?s Cross Country Coach at Fresno City College. Born in West Africa,

Aholu grew up in Paris, France. He trained as an athlete in track and field, sprinting, and rally races and in 1992, he earned a spot in the summer Olympics in Spain. Just four years later, he made it to the biggest stage in sports, competing in the 1996 summer Olympics in Atlanta. While competing professionally Aholu collected and qualified for some of the worlds top track and field events. Some of those events are as follows:

1996 Olympics Track & Field Relays 4*100m quarter-final (Atlanta, Georgia)

1995 Francophonie?s Championships Track & Field Relays 4*100m (4th) (Evry, France)

1992 Olympics Track & Field Relays 4*100m semi-final (Barcelona, Spain)

After a successful run as an Olympian Aholu began is career coaching high school track and field in the Central Valley, while simultaneously training with his students. Prior to his arrival at FCC Coach Aholu spent seven seasons (2007-13) at Clovis North High School as Assistant Track and Field Coach, and six seasons (2011-18) as assistant Cross-Country coach. Aholu was the sprints coach and strength and conditioning coach for the Broncos team. During his time, he built the program into one of the top rank programs in the Valley. While at Alta Sierra, Aholu coached and trained the current head coach at Clovis Community College (CJ Albertson). He also served as a tack and field coach at Dinuba High School in Dinuba, CA.

Aholu has served as the assistant Track and Field Coach at Fresno City College since 2019. In his first season at FCC, Aholu coached the RAMS men's and women's sprinters to some impressive marks. His work with the sprinters was especially impressive as Kurt Kobzeff and Keyon Beta both qualified to North California Trials in 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

Aholu also holds a master?s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Fresno State University.
