RAMS LOOK TO EXTEND UNBEATEN STREAK TO 11
Rams play host to visiting LA Mission College on Tuesday afternoon.
FRESNO, Calif. - The defending CCCAA state champion and #5 ranked Fresno City Rams look to extend their unbeaten streak to 11 this week, as they play host to visiting LA Mission College on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams (5-0-5; 2-0-0) haven't conceded a goal in three matches, and look to record their fourth consecutive shutout against the visiting Eagles.
Head Coach Eric Solberg and his Rams have hit their stride. Following a pair of 2-2 draws in the middle of September, the defending state champions have shut out their last three opponents, defeating them by a combined 11-0 over those three contests. Undefeated in their first 10 matches, the Rams look to extend that streak, as they play host to visiting LA Mission College (3-5-1) this week. LA Mission looks to rebound following a difficult start to their road trip, dropping a pair of contests to Rio Hondo and Bakersfield.
Leading the Rams will be forward/midfielder Michael Vega (Fresno, Calif./Central HS). Vega has been on fire as of late, recording four goals in his past three contests to pace the Rams offense. He recorded a pair of goals in the second half to help the Rams secure their victory over visiting West Hills Lemoore this past week.
The Rams are also led by an exceptional platoon of goalkeepers in Sergio Alvarado (Dinuba, Calif./Dinuba HS) and Guillermo Gama (Fresno, Calif./Sunnyside HS). Alvarado has started two of the last three contests, recording seven saves and two shutouts in those matches. Gama started the team's contest to conclude this past week, recording four saves en route to the Rams 2-0 shutout over visiting West Hills Lemoore.
Tuesday's match is scheduled to begin at 2 PM, as part of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader at Fresno City College. The Rams will conclude the week on the road against #4 ranked Taft in a match with Central Valley Conference championship implications.
