NorCal Meet of Champions:
San-Mateo May 28th, 2021: Aries Harris in Javelin, Jason Lindsay in Hammer and Daniel Martinez in 110m/400m Hurdles, are your 2021 winners of the NorCal meet of champions to cloture the year.
Aries Harris came to this competition to confirm his progression, domination in this event (javelin) this year and he delivered as it was expected. It took him three attempts before he found his marks at 51.34m (168’5”). After that, the rest is a pure domination. In the runway for his fourth attempt, determination can be seeing in his eyes as he is running with the javelin in his hand and then threw in the air. The javelin flied and stood in the air for a few second before landed. The crowd went bananas, “coach I felt this one” said Aries as he was walking toward the officials to check the mark. Then this scream “yeah, yeah, that’s right” coming from Aries fists in the air with excitement as the officials announced the mark 54.50m (178’9”). This will constitute his personal best. What an amazing way to end the season.
In 110mH, Daniel Martinez ran without worrisome of the opponents. From the starting blocks to the finish line, Daniel ran the hurdles with focus and combativeness to easily win the race with the time of 15.59, which will constitute his Season Best.
Hour later, Daniel Martinez was getting ready for his 400m hurdles on the track, after he dominated the 110m hurdles earlier in the day. Which he did not have time to celebrate. After the gun, Daniel took off to be the first at the first hurdle and took possession of the race. He wanted to show his domination and his confidence on his techniques. At 200m, Daniel increased his advance on the rest of the runners. He came out very strong in the curve at the 300m marks and continued to lead the race. Daniel finished like he started this race first and clocked in with a time of 56.5, which will also constitute his season best.
The day continued with Ajay Harrison in Discus Throws where he produced a tremendous effort to project his engine in the air to land at the 43.27m (141’11”). This was not sufficient to win the competition and Ajay finished second in the discus throws. However, he established his personal best and ended the season with proud.
One day prior, the Rams made a great impression by sweeping the Hammer Throws competition taking first, second, and third places. Jason Lindsay won the competition by establishing his personal best with a throw at 50.58m (165’11”), followed by Ajay Harrison 48.70m (159’9”) and Axel Salazar 46.72m (153’3”). Even this year did not resemble to other years, the Rams made the best of it. They finished second with just nine athletes at the Central Valley Conference championships and established numerous Personal Best (PB) or Season Best (SB).
