Battle of the Regions:

The ladies RAMS have begun their season with good marks.  For their first official competition after the pandemic, they have shown some good results. 

For her first race, the freshman Caliska Avila had impressed with a time of 5’13.02 in 1500m finishing 2nd in the race and 3rd overall. Her teammate Selena Garay was also mixt with the pack finished with a time of 6’28.69. Hours later, they geared up again to run the 800m; they again showed their strength by running respectively 2’36.75 for Caliska Avila and 3’00.04 for Selena Garay. They both finished 6th and 13th overall. 

Meantime in late afternoon, the meeting was marked with great performances with the RAMS throwers. In the Hammer throw, Ivy Duong had started the hostilities by sending the hammer in the air by seeing it landing at 48.30m (158-5) followed by her teammate freshman Briana Brugetti with a mark of 32.27m (105-10) and freshman Patricia Meza 28.89m (94-9). They finished overall first place for Ivy Duong, seventh place for Briana Brugetti, and eighth for Patricia Meza in the event. 

The ladies RAMS did not stop there. After some resting time, they traded the Hammer to the Discus. They once again continued showing their domination in this event of Discus throwing. Ivy Duong again lead the ladies RAMS to the victory by catapulting the discus to a mark of 40.32m (132-3) finishing first followed by Briana Brugetti in fifth place with a jet at 33.30m (109-3). To close the competition, Briana Brugetti finished her day by taking fourth place in the Shot put throw with a mark of 10.46m (34-4). Ivy Duong, in the other hand, had fouled a throw around 15m (46) that could have been a clean swipe for her. 

The ladies RAMS have showed throughout the day that they came to compete and to have a good season start.

The season looks very promising for these women team. Stay tuned.
