Bio
Karraker comes to Fresno City College from Loyola Marymount University where he worked with the offense, coached the outfielders and assisted with recruiting efforts. He helped the Lions develop into one of the top offenses in the conference. With the help from Karraker and the staff the Lions had three hitters make the all-conference team and their top hitter, third baseman Diego Baqueiro, was an all region selection.
Prior to Loyola Marymount, Karraker served as the volunteer assistant coach for the Baylor Bears where he worked with catchers and ran baseball camps.
In 2021, Karraker developed the Bears into one of the top hitting teams in the country, as Baylor led the Big 12 (16th nationally) with a .302 batting average. Under the direction of Taylor and the staff, center fielder Jared McKenzie and catcher Andy Thomas earned All-America honors from various outlets. With help from Karraker, Thomas was also named a finalist for the 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year award.
In the 2020 season shortened by COVID-19, Karraker was a part of the staff that helped bring along Nick Loftin, who was named the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year, along with earning preseason All-America honors. Freshman Jared McKenzie led the Bears with a .406 average as the team's leadoff hitting center fielder, earning Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America honors. The Bears were 10-6 until COVID-19 shut down the season, Highlights of the year including sweeping through an SEC loaded Shriner's Hospitals for Children College Classic in Houston.
Karraker brings a wealth of experience from the University of Oregon, where has been since 2009, both as a player and serving in various roles within the baseball program. He spent the last four seasons coaching catchers as a member of then-head coach George Horton’s staff, including spending the 2016 season as the team’s pitching coach.
During the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Karraker served as an administrative assistant at Oregon with duties in the baseball office and on the field as well as assisting with Oregon baseball camps. Before moving into that role, he spent one season as an undergraduate assistant coach and one season as a student manager.
Karraker joined head coach George Horton on the U.S. National Team coaching staff in the summer of 2016, serving as the bullpen coach. The College National Team wrapped up a three-country swing with Team USA’s first ever series win in the country of Cuba. Karraker was also the bullpen coach for the CNT in the summer of 2012.
Karraker also spent time coaching outside the Oregon baseball program. He was the head coach of the Klamath Falls Gems in the West Coast Summer League for two seasons before serving as an assistant coach with the Eugene Challengers, an American Legion team, in the summer of 2015. He also served as the liaison during summers between the Oregon athletic department and the Eugene Emeralds, while also working in the bullpen for the Ems during home games.
Karraker graduated from the University of Oregon in 2012 with a degree in sociology. He earned his Master’s of Education from Northwest Christian University in 2014 and him and his wife Kelly have two daughters, Ella and Nora.
